HOUSTON, TX, April 21, 2008 -- PAS, a global leading supplier of software and engineering services to the processing industries, and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), a collaborative research organization, today released a new guideline for alarm management for power generators.

The co-authored report, EPRI Alarm Management and Annunciator Guidelines, was developed in response to increasing industry demand for a comprehensive compendium of information and best-practices on alarm management.

The guideline details the current state of alarm management and annunciator applications, and introduces guiding principles and suggested best practices for improving alarm management systems within power generation plants.

"We have seen demand for information on alarm management grow increasingly in recent years and decided to place significant time and effort into producing a report on alarm management specifically for our industry., We enlisted PAS based on their demonstrated expertise in this area to help us create a comprehensive document to help guide the industry," said Wayne Crawford, Program Manager, Operations Management and Technology at EPRI.

Eddie Habibi, CEO at PAS stated, "We are thrilled to have been invited to co-author such a critical document. The guideline represents the current best practices in alarm management and provides an invaluable resource to the power industry."

In addition to this report, PAS has written several books on the topic of alarm management -- "The Alarm Management Handbook" and "Alarm Management: Seven Effective Methods for Optimum Performance" -- available online at www.pas.com and www.isa.org/alarmmanagement .

PAS is a leading supplier of software products and consulting services to the process industries worldwide and has been delivering value to customers since 1993.

The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) was established in 1973 as an independent, nonprofit center for public interest energy and environmental research.
