• Utilities that enroll by March 31 become charter members
DENVER, CO, Jan. 13, 2011 -- The Partnership for Safe Water (PSW) announced today that it is expanding its water treatment improvement programs to include water distribution systems.
Enrollment in the Partnership's new Distribution System and Optimization Program is now open. Utilities that enroll by March 31, 2011 are eligible for charter membership and special benefits.
The Partnership for Safe Water optimization programs identify opportunities for improvement in water system operations and to empower system operators with knowledge to recognize and apply procedures that result in water quality and system reliability improvements. The Distribution System Optimization Program is similar to the treatment plant program that has been successful for more than 15 years.
The program consists of four phases: Commitment, Baseline and Annual Data Collection, Self-Assessment and Optimized Performance. Utilities that achieve the ultimate level of system performance will be recognized by the Excellence in Distribution System Operation award.
Additional information on the program and membership applications can be found on the Partnership website at www.partnershipforsafewater.org .
The Partnership for Safe Water is sponsored by the American Water Works Association, Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies, Association of State Drinking Water Administrators, United States Environmental Protection Agency, National Association of Water Companies, and the Water Research Foundation.
