LIBERTY LAKE, WA, Oct. 9, 2015 -- Starting today, Itron, a technology and services company dedicated to the resourceful use of water and energy, is hosting its 2015 Utility Week, the company's annual utility event, which serves to highlight the latest industry technology, foster collaboration and share stories of best practices between gas, water and electric utilities.
Taking place Oct. 9-16 at the JW Marriott in Los Angeles, Calif., Itron's Utility Week brings together nearly 1,000 industry experts from some of the largest companies worldwide and serves as a platform for discussing technology and sharing best practices. This year, the event focuses on resourceful innovation, specifically highlighting key drivers shaping utilities of the future and the rapidly evolving technology climate.
The Knowledge Conference, including main conference learning sessions, will be held Oct. 11-13, with pre-conference training Oct. 9-10 and post-conference training Oct. 14-16. Keynote speakers at Itron Utility Week include: Daniel Burrus, business strategist and global futurist, "Accelerating Innovation: Leading With Strategic Foresight and Certainty;" and Kelly McDonald, consumer trends expert, "Creating a Meaningful Customer Experience Every Time."
New this year, Itron will host three Big Picture sessions focusing on technology trends and business drivers shaping utilities of the future. Topics include the changing utility business model, leveraging the right data instead of big data and the utility's role in smart cities. The company will also host a series of customer presentations, learning sessions and panel discussions throughout the conference:
- Moving to a Single, Multi-Purpose Network - Looking Out to IoT and Smart Cities: Itron's CTO will discuss how utilities can benefit from transitioning from proprietary networks to standards-based networks, and Itron partner, Cisco, will touch on how the advent of these new networks are creating new service provider communities and advancing the Internet of Things and smart cities.
- Success Selling Less? Energy Efficiency, Demand Response and the Changing Utility Business Model: An industry expert will discuss the shifting paradigm to smart grid applications, including energy efficiency and demand response and how they are impacting the utility business model and regulatory reform.
- Streetlight Monitoring and Management: This session introduces how connected streetlight management drives improved energy efficiency and cost reduction for utility lighting systems.
