LOUISIANA, MARCH 29, 2017 -- When it comes to the best tasting water in Louisiana, the 80th Annual Louisiana Conference on Water Supply, Sewerage, and Industrial Wastes Inc., holds the answers. Each year, the state water conference honors regional treatment plants and their employees, who then compete at the state level for top prize.
The taste, color, odor and clarity of drinking water samples is judged, along with effluent samples, judged on clarity alone.
The city of Winnsboro in Franklin Parish took hope top prize, winning both the "Water Taste Contest" and the "Wastewater Beauty Contest" at the state level. The New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board's Algiers water plant won the taste test at the local level, but came in second place during the statewide awards.
