RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – Saudi Arabian company Water and Electricity Co. (WEC) has invited expressions of interest (EOI) for a new reverse osmosis (RO) desalination project in the Rabigh area, north of Jeddah.
The project, to be tendered on a design-build-operate (DBO) basis, will supply 600,000 m3/day with the potential to expand to 1.2 million m3/day, making it one of the largest RO membrane developments globally.
Under a 25-year contract, the winning developer will sell the desalinated water to WEC under a Water Purchase Agreement, which will be backed by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Technical adviser for the Rabigh 3 project will be Fichtner GmbH & Co. KG, with Banque Saudi Fransi acting as the financial adviser.
Interested parties should participate by August 21. More information can be found here.
