Knoxville, Tenn., August 28, 2002 -- Patrick Collins, P.E., a water resources engineer with special expertise in stormwater management, has joined the international engineering and services firm AMEC.

Operating from AMEC's Earth & Environmental office in Knoxville, Collins will help direct the expansion and diversification of water resources services to governmental and commercial clients in Tennessee and other states.

Collins brings AMEC's clients more than 15 years of experience in watershed modeling and in the design, permitting and management of stormwater utilities. He has gained his experience at the municipal and county government levels, as well as in private practice. In 1996 he was named Florida's Government Engineer of the Year for his leadership and expertise on stormwater issues.

"Pat Collins strengthens AMEC's already strong water resources team at a time when cities, counties and industry may be most in need of our services to comply with tough new federal stormwater-quality requirements that go into effect in March," said Andrew Reese, AMEC Vice President.

Collins's stormwater achievements include negotiation and implementation of the first National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit issued in Florida; selection as a member of Stormwater magazine's editorial advisory board; service as the first two-term President of the Florida Association of Stormwater Utilities; appointment as City Engineer and Stormwater Utility Director for Venice, Fla.; and pioneering work with the first Internet-compatible software product to assist clients with NPDES compliance.

AMEC operates 90 Earth & Environmental offices in North America that specialize in environmental, geotechnical, water resources and materials engineering. AMEC's southeastern U.S. offices are located in Atlanta, Ga.; Chantilly, Va.; Charlotte, N.C.; Greensboro, N.C.; Huntsville, Ala.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Knoxville, Tenn.; Louisville, Ky.; Nashville, Tenn.; Norfolk, Va.; and Raleigh, N.C.
