Dec. 4, 2002 -- The 29 Palms Marine Base in California ordered a major disinfection system in November 2002 composed of five on-site hypochlorite systems, manufactured by MIOX Corporation.
The specified total requirement of 1600 pounds per day of chlorine will cover multiple applications, including treatment of potable water. MIOX Corporation was selected from three on-site hypochlorite manufacturers.
The project requires that all on-site generation equipment be NSF/ANSI approved. The MIOX generators will eliminate chlorine gas at the site, improving safety and simultaneously eliminating requirements for special handling of hazardous materials and the EPA's Risk Management Plan (RMP).
The equipment includes two HYPO-2003 systems, one HYPO-2002, and two HYPO-2001 systems. The MIOX systems generate chlorine from a brine solution.
MIOX Corporation is a worldwide supplier of disinfection equipment with over 1,000 on-site generator installations in the U.S. and 20 foreign countries.
