Phoenix, Ariz., April 4, 2002 -- James M. Oliver, R.G. has joined AMEC's Earth & Environmental operations as a Vice President and Water Resources Director for the Western U.S. Oliver will oversee the expansion and diversification of water resources services offered to governmental and commercial clients by AMEC's two dozen Earth & Environmental offices throughout the west.

"This hiring is a strategic move that will complement skills already in place in our offices in the Eastern U.S. and Canada and transform us into a world class player in the water resources market," said AMEC Executive Vice President Steve Myers, R.G.

Oliver comes to AMEC, an international engineering and environmental services firm, from Brown & Caldwell where he served as Water Resources Practice Leader for the Southwestern U.S.

He brings more than 17 years of experience in water supply development, groundwater-flow evaluation, well design and installation, and groundwater recharge to AMEC. His projects have ranged from recharge assessments and the installation of multiple groundwater production wells for Phoenix-area municipalities to water supply development plans for Honduran communities as part of the Hurricane Mitch relief effort. He is extremely familiar with hydrogeologic conditions in the western U.S., having performed dozens of projects in the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, Texas and Washington.

Oliver is a Registered Geologist with a degree in Hydrology from the University of Arizona. His memberships include the Association of Groundwater Scientists and Engineers, the Water Environment Federation, Arizona Hydrological Society and National Water Well Association.

The hiring follows the December addition of Eduardo Latimer, Ph.D., P.E., who specializes in storm water management and irrigation and drainage planning and design from AMEC's Earth & Environmental office in Phoenix. "With Jim's groundwater expertise and Ed's surface water capabilities, we now offer clients the complete package," Myers said.

AMEC operates 90 Earth & Environmental offices in North America that offer environmental, geotechnical, materials, and water resources engineering services. AMEC's diverse projects range from the post-Sept. 11 cleanup at the World Trade Center and Pentagon to geologic preparation for a 2,000-foot bridge to bypass Hoover Dam.

AMEC is a international provider of specialized services and engineering solutions for clients in manufacturing, commercial, infrastructure and process industries. AMEC applies knowledge, innovation and technology to generate value for clients throughout the life of their capital assets.
