• New acquisition to become part of United Water Connecticut
NEW MILFORD, CT, August 3, 2009 -- United Water, one of the leading providers of water and wastewater services in the nation, today announced the company's acquisition of Bethel Consolidated Inc. The acquisition will expand United Water's service area and customer base in Connecticut and is a key component of the company's growth strategy.

United Water currently serves about 14,000 people in New Milford, Newtown, and Woodbury, Connecticut. The company utilizes 34 different ground water sources of supply, maintains 9 above ground storage facilities, and has over 110 miles of transmission and distribution water mains.
The acquisition of Bethel will expand United Water's customer base by 600 customers, increasing its presence in Fairfield County. "We've had a long history of providing excellent water service to our customers in Connecticut," said Pointing. "We believe this expansion into Bethel will further strengthen our ability to grow in the state."
