PITTSBURGH, Pa., April 8, 2002 -- Underground Solutions, Inc. has entered into an agreement to acquire Charjon Utility Services through a newly formed, wholly-owned subsidiary, Underground Solutions Services Group, Inc.
John Dougherty, former president of Charjon, has been named Regional Operations Manager of the new subsidiary and Michael Porter, also formerly with Charjon has been named Project Manager. Underground Solutions Services Group provides specialized construction and rehabilitation services to the water and wastewater industry.
Underground Solutions, Inc. owns the United States and South American rights to Duraliner™ which is an economical PVC lining system for the renewal of the nation's aging drinking water lines and other pressure pipes.
Duraliner™ is a patented process for pipeline renewal resulting in a "stand alone" structural lining capable of handling internal minimum operating pressures of 150 psi (Duraliner 150™) with a 3.2 safety factor. Duraliner™ conforms to NSF 61 Standards for Drinking Water Components/Health Effects.
In addition, Duraliner™ provides an equivalent design-life of new PVC pipelines thus qualifying the rehabilitated pipelines to be capitalized as new assets under the rules of GASB Statement 34. In non-pressure (gravity flow) applications such as sanitary or storm sewers, Duraliner Lite™ and Duraliner Spot™ provide economical structural relining solutions.
