LONG BEACH, CA, July 15, 2005 -- The company operating the wastewater treatment plant in St. Johnsbury was recognized for its commitment to safety excellence by the Vermont Occupational Safety and Health Administration (VOSHA) during a ceremony at the facility today.

Earth Tech, Inc., a business unit of Tyco International Ltd, and a global provider of consulting, engineering, construction and operations services, is the first business operating in the state to receive VOSHA's Green Mountain Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) "Star" status, the highest level possible. VPP recognizes businesses and worksites that show excellence in occupational safety and health. The recognition is also the first of its kind for Earth Tech, which has operated the St. Johnsbury facility since 1990.

"A comprehensive safety program not only benefits the workers at this facility, it also protects the health and well being of the St. Johnsbury residents and environment," said Bob Hickman, a senior vice president in charge of Earth Tech's North American International Asset Management Division. "We are proud of our team and hope that their efforts will encourage other businesses in the area and throughout Vermont to become VPP participants."

In order to qualify for the Star status, the Earth Tech team at the St. Johnsbury site developed and implemented a comprehensive health and safety management system and achieved injury and illness rates at or below the national industry average.
