Midland, Mich., July 17, 2002 -- FilmTec Corp., a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company, has introduced the latest generation of its Reverse Osmosis System Analysis (ROSA) software.

ROSA is a sophisticated design program that predicts the performance of FILMTEC™ reverse osmosis (RO) and nanofiltration (NF) elements in user specified systems. Version 5.0 introduces enhanced power and versatility through a simplified interface, along with updated information about newer FILMTEC RO and NF elements.

"ROSA is easy-to-use software that will give RO and NF system designers the specifications they need to best utilize their elements," says Scott Beardsley at Dow. "It will also allow them to 'virtually' test different scenarios in any given project - without having to spend money on trial-and-error experiments."

To use ROSA 5.0, users follow four basic steps to create a RO or NF system design: 1. project information data; 2. feed analysis data; 3. feed pH adjustment and 4. design data. Based on the water classification selected, the program will then evaluate the design and generate a report. Users can then either save the results, or alter the specifications until the results meet the project specifications.

ROSA 5.0 is available for free download at www.filmtec.com.

FILMTEC RO and NF elements are produced via an automated process resulting in the consistently highest quality products in the industry. at Dow's production facility in Minneapolis, Minn. As with all FILMTEC elements, they are fabricated to offer the widest cleaning pH range (pH 1-12) in the industry and a durability that allows system operators to clean at higher pH than other elements.

Dow is a science and technology company that provides innovative chemical, plastic and agricultural products and services to many essential consumer markets.
