DEER LAKE, NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR, DECEMBER 2, 2016 -- The governments of Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador are making infrastructure investments that will help create jobs, grow the middle class, and support a high standard of living for Canadians and their families for years to come.
The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, Gudie Hutchings, Member of Parliament for Long Range Mountains, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and the Honourable Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs, announced more than $2.7 million in combined funding for critical water and storminfrastructure upgrades in Deer Lake.
"The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to providing residents with modern infrastructure that supports growth and development in their communities, and ensures their personal well-being. Work involves replacing asbestos pipes with new sanitary and storm collection, and water distribution lines along 1.5 kilometres of First, Second and Third Streets.

"The Government of Canada recognizes that modern, efficient water infrastructure is essential to preserving public health, protecting the environment and reducing municipal maintenance costs. We are working in close partnership with Newfoundland and Labrador to make sure they have the support they need to build sustainable, 21st-century communities. Thanks to this collaboration and projects like the one we're celebrating today, Canada will remain among the best places in the world to live, work and raise a family," saidGudie Hutchings Member of Parliament for Long Range Mountains, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities.
