South Dakota announces $1.1B for water infrastructure

The South Dakota Department of Agriculture and natural Resources (DANR) has announced that its Board of Water and Natural Resources has approved $1,102,749,980 in grants and loans for drinking water and wastewater projects in South Dakota.

The $1,102749,980 includes $415,243,398 in grants and $687,506,582 in low-interest loans with $642,520 in principal forgiveness. More than 90 organizations received this funding.

“I am pleased to announce this financial assistance is available,” said DANR Secretary Hunter Roberts. “These grants and loans will result in upgraded wastewater and drinking water systems which is good for the users and the environment.”

The grants came through DANR’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and Clean Water State Revolving Fund programs, Consolidated Water Facilities Construction Program, and the American Rescue Plan Act.

• Minnehaha and Lincoln County

“These projects will serve our grandchildren and their grandchildren,” said Governor Kristi Noem. “I am proud to support these community investments to ensure the people of South Dakota continue to have clean drinking water and safe disposal systems to serve their needs for decades to come.”
