To maintain clean drinking water for its customers, a water treatment facility conducts vigilant field sampling to regularly measure various parameters. In a typical situation, field personnel will carry various instruments on their daily routes for the testing of sulfate, monochloramine, total chlorine and nitrate, temperature, conductivity and pH, amongst other parameters when necessary. Tests and data logging include multiple manual steps, which increases risk for errors and inconstant data. The process is laborious and takes time away from other tasks.

Solution

The Hach SL1000 consolidates tools and offers rapid, real-time results as well as tools for data logging in a single hand-held device. The SL1000 allows the personnel to run four colorimetric and two probe-based measurements at the same time using the same water sample without special preparation. To conduct a test, the user simply inserts the Chemkey™ reagents and probes into the device, which detects the Chemkey and probe types. The user then dips the Chemkeys into the sample cup and shortly thereafter the SL1000 will display the reading for each test.

The TU5 series of lab and process turbidimeters from Hach features revolutionary 360° x 90° Detection Technology™.

Benefits

The advancement of the SL1000 is poised to greatly expand the capabilities of all personnel involved with water quality monitoring and sampling by eliminating many of the factors that have long contributed to discrepancies in analysis results. Streamlining the sampling process with the SL1000 saves communities water, and quicker, more accurate results produce higher water quality, all the while saving time for the water treatment facility.

The Next Standard in the Evolution of Turbidity

Reliable turbidity monitoring is an essential component of drinking water production. However, a typical turbidimeter uses a single degree of light to generate a reading, which only measures a segment of the sample, and lab readings require tedious processes that require indexing and silicone oil. Sometimes, lab and process readings don’t match, and overlooked maintenance can cause errors in measurements.

The Hach SL1000 consolidates tools and offers rapid, real-time results as well as tools for data logging in a single hand-held device.

Solution

The TU5 series of lab and process turbidimeters from Hach features revolutionary 360° x 90° Detection Technology™, engineered to see more of your sample than any other turbidimeter. This technology is used in both the TU5 online and TU5 benchtop turbidimeters. A smaller sample reservoir, with 98% less online sample surface area to clean, uses a smaller sample size and includes sealed vials for calibration. Lastly, the TU5 online turbidimeters come Prognosys™ ready.

Benefits

Since the lab and process turbidimeters use the same 360° x 90° Detection, lab and process readings are more likely to match. The 360° x 90° Detection delivers the best low-level precision (from 0 to 40 NTU: ± 2% or ± 0.01 NTU) and sensitivity while minimizing variability from test to test, and a smaller online sample volume means you will detect events almost immediately. Studies conducted at several conventional and membrane filtration drinking water facilities showed the TU5 to be ~15 to ~25 times faster in responding to spiking at three levels: ~1.5 mNTU, ~100 mNTU, and ~500 mNTU. Finally, Prognosys monitors your TU5 Series online instrument, proactively alerting you to maintenance needs before your measurement becomes questionable.

Hach is exhibiting at AWWA’s ACE17 expo in Booth 2501.
