WASHINGTON, DC, Oct. 28, 2005 -- Competing against the nation's best and brightest wastewater operators, a team from Operations Management International, Inc. (OMI) is trying for a third consecutive victory at the 18th Annual Water Environment Federation (WEF) Operations Challenge in Washington, D.C., Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Dubbed the "Wastewater Olympics" by WEF members, the Ops Challenge showcases the skills of wastewater professionals from around the country at Water Environment Federation Technical Exposition and Conference (WEFTEC.05), WEF's annual conference. OMI's Fluid Dynamics team from Richmond, Va., has won the Division 1 competition for the past two years. OMI also has an employee from Biddeford participating on the Force Maine team.

"Winning the Operations Challenge is an incredible feat. Our operators train hard for this, but that's only part of the process. The work they do every day and the dedication they have for their jobs is the practical experience that makes them champions," says OMI President Mark Lasswell.

Ops Challenge tests the skills of operators in five categories: maintenance, safety, laboratory analysis, process control and collections systems. Forty teams are expected to compete in the 2005 event. OMI is a Gold Level President's Club Sponsor of this year's Ops Challenge, sponsoring the safety event.

"We strive each day to provide superior operations at wastewater plants across North America," adds Lasswell. "We are proud of all our staff who work hard every day to provide quality O&M services and who represent thousands of other public and private staff that do the same thing."

OMI (www.omiinc.com) is a leading provider of operations and maintenance solutions for water and wastewater systems, providing a wide range of services for customers in government and industry. A member of the American, employee-owned CH2M Hill Companies Ltd., OMI offers O&M consulting, contract operations and complete design-build-operate services. Headquartered in Englewood, Colo., the company manages 180 water and wastewater facilities across the U.S. The company marks its 25th anniversary this year.
