MONROVIA, CA, Feb 28, 2002 -- ChemIndustry.com, (www.chemindustry.com) a provider of free web-based comprehensive search services for the chemical and related industries worldwide, announced the kickoff of its first-ever contest to recognize the Internet's best chemical web sites.
"Our goal is to recognize unique, noteworthy and free Internet resources for chemists, chemical engineers and chemical industry professionals," said Yaron Rapaport, founder and president of ChemIndustry.com.
The contest is also sponsored by The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), one of the most prominent and influential scientific organizations in the world and John Wiley & Sons, Inc., founded in 1807 and today a global leader in the publishing of scientific, technical and medical books and journals. An international panel of judges, all distinguished in various chemical fields, will review the submitted sites and select winners in each category. Heading the panel are Dana Roth of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, and Gary Wiggins, director of the Chemical Informatics Center at Indiana University.
The contest is open to web sites and web pages of clear interest to chemists, chemical engineers and chemical industry professionals. The site must be in English and free to users. Four categories of nomination include: online courses, calculators, tools; portals and information hubs, chemistry and engineering schools' sites; and corporate sites. Winners will be selected based on a site's usefulness, accuracy, breadth and depth of content, presentation, and ease of use.
