NORTHBROOK, Ill., Sept. 3, 2002 — USF Consumer & Commercial WaterGroup, a subsidiary of United States Filter Corporation, announced that it has entered into an agreement to sell its Plymouth Products business to Pentair Inc.
Price was not disclosed.
Plymouth Products manufactures water filtration products used in residential, commercial and industrial applications. The products include filter housings, replaceable cartridge elements available in a variety of filtration media, and filtration systems to treat drinking water for specific contaminants.
The sale furthers USFilter's announced strategy to divest non-core assets, and focus on its water-wastewater equipment and services businesses and consumer and commercial businesses.
"The execution of the Plymouth Products sale agreement keeps USFilter on track to meet its announced target to divest over $1 billion in non-core businesses during 2002. We completed the sale of our filtration and separation group earlier this year and expect to sell our waterworks distribution business—the U.S. distributor of pumps, pipe, hydrants, valves, and meters—during the fourth quarter," said Andrew D. Seidel, USFilter President and CEO.
"Completion of these transactions will enable us to focus on the growth and development of our expanding core water-wastewater equipment and services businesses as well as our consumer and commercial businesses."
USF Consumer & Commercial WaterGroup expects the transaction to be complete by fourth quarter after securing necessary regulatory approvals.
