Mountain View, CA, September 10, 2002 -- Progress Energy has selected ESP's (Environmental Software Providers) opsEnvironmental software for management of water discharges at its power generation facilities across Florida.
opsEnvironmental is an enterprise level environmental management information system (EMIS) with modules for air, water, and waste management.
ESP software has been in use to manage environmental data at Progress Energy and its predecessor companies since 1994. With the purchase of the water module of opsEnvironmental, the Florida power generating stations, which provide electric generation services to 1.4 million customers, will expand the use of the software to management of state and federal water discharge reporting, also tying the software in with other areas of environmental management.
"We are pleased to add the water module to our existing opsEnvironmental package," said Vicky Will, Director of Environmental Services for Progress Energy's Power Operations Group. "Because of the success that we have had with the other opsEnvironmental software modules, we look forward to implementing it for water discharge management as well."
Jim Davis, ESP's Vice President of Sales, Power and Energy Sector, noted that the expanded relationship with Progress Energy provides significant benefits to both companies.
"The extension of Progress Energy's opsEnvironmental package will offer value to them not only in management of water compliance, but also in corporate rollup reporting of all environmental data," said Davis.
"And ESP will also benefit through Progress Energy's expanded membership in our User Group. Their active participation has offered great value in the development of our air management software. We are delighted that they will now be lending their voice to the future evolution of our water management software as well."
opsEnvironmental is widely used throughout the power, petrochemical, chemical, aerospace/defense and pharmaceutical industries for environmental management and regulatory compliance. Its modules cover compliance, air, water, waste, and chemical management. For more information, please call the sales office at 650-623-9881.
