Municipal testing begins for Rhino Wet Waste Interceptors

Rhino Ecosystems Tuesday announced new pilot programs in four Indiana cities for its systems which treat wet waste solids, fats, oils and greases from restaurants' waste streams.

WOODBRIDGE, Ontario, Canada, July 2, 2002 -- Rhino Ecosystems Tuesday announced important new pilot programs involving its Indiana dealer.

The state of Indiana is getting tough on all types of water pollution. Indiana Rhino LLC, the exclusive dealer of Rhino Ecosystems Inc. for the state of Indiana, has started a pilot-testing program with four cities in Indiana.

The Indiana cities of Oakland City, Bicknell, Ferdinand and Evansville have all agreed to test the Rhino Wet Waste Interceptor systems to show their effectiveness in removing wet waste solids, fats, oils and greases from their local restaurants' waste water streams.

Previous independent engineering tests have shown that up to 90 percent of the wet waste solids, fats, oils and greases will be removed from a restaurant's kitchen sink's waste water discharge when a Rhino Wet Waste Interceptor is installed within the drainage system of the restaurant. The Rhino units are installed downstream from the sink's "P" trap and upstream from the establishment's grease trap.

The waste materials are removed from the wastewater stream via a disposable filtration membrane, which takes less than 30 seconds to change.

These tests are ongoing at the present time. Favorable results are anticipated with recommendations for expanded city use in each city by the end of this year. Other cities within Indiana are awaiting the results of these on-site testing programs to determine their timing of Rhino Wet Waste Interceptor installations within their municipalities.

The reduction in wet waste solids, fats, oils and greases that will be removed from the commercial kitchen wastewater streams due to the installation of a Rhino unit will result in lower municipal operating costs at their respective waste treatment facilities.
