WASHINGTON, March 22, 2016 -- Since 1993, the UN World Water Day has been held annually in order to raise awareness about the world's issues related to water. This year, the day has given rise to a long range of events around the world including The White House Water Summit.

As something very unique, a delegation representing the Danish water sector has been invited to give a presentation at this spectacular event as the only group from outside the US. The delegation includes representatives from both public agencies and private companies, among them Søren Hvilshøj, Global Market Director in Ramboll Water.

The delegation will touch upon topics such as climate adaptation, non-revenue-water and reduction of water consumption. However, they will not be doing this in a normal way with long speeches and Power Point presentations.

In order to create awareness and demonstrate the strengths of the Danish water sector in a clear and detailed way, the group has decided to build a large Lego model showcasing the Danish approach to water. The model is three feet long and seven feet high, and it consists of 20,000 Lego bricks.

"The United States faces a range of water challenges, from serious water deficit in California to frequent flooding events in the Mississippi area. By presenting the model we hope to initiate qualified and fruitful discussions on possible solutions – for instance on how the US can achieve their ambitious goal on reducing water consumption by 30 %," says Søren Hvilshøj, Global Market Director in Ramboll Water and part of the Danish delegation.

Designed as a small village, the Lego model is named 'Waterville'. It shows many typical characteristics of the Danish approach to water management as well as different methods for 3D analyzing water resource management such as resource surveys done by a helicopter.
