Alexandria, VA, Jan. 29, 2003 -- The Water Environment Federation (WEF), the American Water Works Association (AWWA), and the Chesapeake Water Environment Association will present the Joint Residuals and Biosolids Management Conference, February 19-22, 2003 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland.
Chaired by Lori Stone (CH2M HILL) and Daniel Guillory (Metropolitan Water District of Southern California), the 4-day conference themed, "Partnering for a Safe, Sustainable Environment", will begin on Wednesday, February 19, the tenth anniversary of the adoption of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Part 503 rule governing the use and disposal of biosolids.
According to Stone, "the opportunity for water quality professionals around the world to meet, share experiences, network, and learn -- in a great location that offers many state-of-the-art facilities -- is unprecedented. Participants will be encouraged to design their own learning experience by choosing from 25 extensive technical sessions, 4 conference workshops, and 5 technical tours. The educational presentations will focus on critical and noteworthy topics, including: co-management of residuals and biosolids, land application, odor control, and emerging uses of water treatment plant residuals for phosphorous control, among others.
