OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, March 20, 2013 -- To commemorate World Water Day 2014 (WWD), Water4, a non-profit organization focused on eradicating the world's water crisis, has announced its education initiative that includes a variety of beneficial endeavors.
For one, Grammy Award-winning singer Sandi Patty and actress Nadia Dajani are joining the project to help raise awareness and will be visiting participating schools on Friday, March 21. Further, Water4 is inviting all schools to participate in educating and fundraising. Also available to participating classes is an opportunity to Skype with students in Sierra Leone on Friday.
The company's educational package includes everything from lesson plans to homework available for download on their website (water4.org). In addition to receiving educational materials, students will also creatively raise money for clean water projects. The school with the greatest fundraising success will have a Water4 well named in their honor.
"Water4 has helped more than 250 thousand people gain access to clean drinking water in more than 15 countries," said Sandi Patty. "I am honored to join this amazing organization and help spread awareness. From Oklahoma to Sierra Leone, every person deserves potable water." Nadia Dajani added, "Awareness starts with education, and Water4 has created the perfect tool to draw attention to the global water crisis. Water4's education initiative offers hope and a solution."
World Water Day is an international day of awareness declared by the United Nations that is held annually on March 22nd. Despite the 780 million people worldwide who lack access to safe drinking water, the eventual eradication of the water crisis is attainable.
