BOSTON, MA, Aug. 26, 2014 -- The World Economic Forum recently named Cambrian Innovation, a water and bioenergy technology provider, as a 2015 Technology Pioneer for its innovative bioelectric solution that reduces the cost and energy requirements of sustainably managing water resources. Cambrian was the only company selected for this year's prestigious distinction -- honoring the most innovative technology companies across a wide range of industries -- that presented a solution for the growing global water crisis.
Cambrian uniquely employs a bioelectric technology to cost-effectively clean wastewater by generating significant clean energy in the process. The company's flagship product EcoVolt is deployed at industrial facilities and can reduce biological oxygen demand (BOD) by up to 90 percent, while generating more than 50 percent of facilities' electricity needs. Treated water can later be reused on-site, dramatically reducing freshwater requirements and enabling water-intensive businesses to grow.

The 2015 World Economic Forum Technology Pioneers will be honored during the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2014, which will take place from September 10 to 12 in Tianjin, People's Republic of China. The event, celebrating science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship, will bring together more than 1,500 leaders from business, government and research from more than 90 countries.
