HARRINGTON PARK, NJ, Sept. 3, 2014 -- According to the comprehensive annual industry listing compiled by Engineering News Record (ENR), SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT NORTH AMERICA (SUEZ) has grown to be one of the largest environmental services companies operating in North America.
The report indicates that SUEZ ranked the third-largest nationwide for water treatment and supply services -- up from #16 last year, the third-largest among companies specializing only in environmental services, and the second-largest in terms of serving municipal clients in the country.
The company reported significant organic growth and new business wins this year. These are indicative of the more pronounced industry growth and highlight the importance of environmental services for municipalities and private industries. The following projects represent some of the latest achievements for SUEZ:
- Infilco Degremont, in September 2013, won the contract to supply seventeen of its Climber® Screens to the US Army Corps of Engineers for channel debris removal to provide critical frontline protection and safeguard the integrity of its Permanent Canal Closures and Pumps facilities near Lake Pontchartrain in New Orleans and handle an aggregate flow of 15.7 billion gallons per day (GPD) (see "Bar screens to help channel debris at US Army Corps of Engineers' PCCP facilities").
- SENA Waste Services won two operation and maintenance contracts with a total value of $120 million with the city of Edmonton, Alberta. Operating in tandem, the Edmonton Composting Facility and the Materials Recovery Facility at the Edmonton Waste Management Center enable the city to divert 60 percent of household waste from landfill through recycling and composting.
