New Mexico arsenic reduction contract goes to Severn Trent Services -- FORT WASHINGTON, PA, March 10, 2006 -- The SORB 33® arsenic removal technology and Bayoxide® E33 arsenic removal media from Severn Trent Services have been selected for use by the Bernalillo County (NM) Public Works Department at a 450 gallon per minute water treatment facility, where total arsenic was measured at 15 parts per billion (ppb). The new treatment system will enable the County to reduce arsenic levels below the EPA arsenic standard for drinking water of 10 ppb. Abtech Industries completes Long Island Soundkeeper Filter Project installation -- NORWALK, CT, March 9, 2006 -- Scottsdale company announces successful installation of over 275 Ultra Urban® Filters (UUF) with Smart Sponge® Plus in storm drains in the targeted drainage area of Norwalk, CT. Ohio's Voinovich introduces bill to create National Commission on Infrastructure -- Infrastructure improvement bill receives civil engineers' approval -- RESTON, VA, March 8, 2006 -- The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) today applauded the introduction of the National Infrastructure Improvement Act of 2006, by U.S. Sen. George V. Voinovich (R-OH), Sen. Thomas Carper (D-DE) and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY). If enacted, this critical legislation -- created to address the deteriorating conditions of our nation's roads, bridges, drinking water systems, dams and other public works -- will establish the National Commission on Infrastructure of the United States. The commission will be charged with ensuring the ability of the nation's infrastructure to meet current and future demands and aid in the nation's economic growth. In March 2005, ASCE's Report Card for America's Infrastructure noted a downward trend in many infrastructure sectors; with only two of the fifteen categories it assessed showing any marginal improvement. With an overall grade of D, and a $1.6 trillion investment need, the Report Card echoed a nearly two-decade-old public warning that America's infrastructure was in decline...
