• Hydranautics to supply Los Cabos 4.6-mgd SWRO in Baja California -- Top of the line SWC5 elements to be employed at Mexican seawater desalination facility -- OCEANSIDE, CA, Sept. 18, 2006 -- Hydranautics, a global leader in membrane technology, was selected to provide elements for the seawater desalination plant that is scheduled for start-up in October of this year in Cabo San Lucas in Baja California, Mexico, by the Spanish OEM INIMA-OHL. The plant has a capacity of 17,300 m³/day, or 4.6 mgd, supplying over 60,000 consumers in this semi-arid region. INIMA will use 1,540 of Hydranautics' SWC5 elements in 11 trains to treat seawater for potable use...

• Louis Berger Group, Black & Veatch joint venture awarded Afghani infrastructure contract -- USAID-funded Afghanistan Infrastructure & Rehabilitation Program to bring joint venture $1.4 billion over five years -- WASHINGTON, DC, Sept. 19, 2006 -- The Louis Berger Group, Inc. and Black & Veatch Special Projects Corp. Joint Venture (JV) has been awarded the five-year, $1.4 billion Afghanistan Infrastructure and Rehabilitation Program (AIRP) contract by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). • Noted neurologist, ethicist joins EPA as Human Subjects Research Review official -- WASHINGTON, DC, Sept. 18, 2006 -- To continue to ensure that EPA's research complies with all regulations that govern the protection of human research subjects, the EPA Administrator's Science Advisor announces Warren E. Lux, Jr. M.D., has joined the Agency as the new Human Subjects Research Review Official (HSRRO). • Foster Wheeler enters into license agreement for circulating fluidized-bed steam generator technology in China -- HAMILTON, Bermuda, Sept. 18, 2006 -- Foster Wheeler Ltd. announced today that its subsidiary Foster Wheeler North America Corp., a unit of the Global Power Group, has entered into a 15-year agreement with Wuxi Huaguang Boiler Co. Ltd. to provide a technology license for subcritical pressure circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) steam generators to be sold in China. The agreement also contemplates Foster Wheeler utilizing Wuxi as a major supplier for projects located outside of China. The value of the initial license fee will be included in the company's third-quarter 2006 bookings and future royalty payments will be recorded over the life of the agreement. • Vallecitos Water District unveils 340.9 kW solar system at dedication ceremony -- San Marcos, CA, system was designed and installed by SPG Solar Inc. -- SAN MARCOS, CA, Sept. 18, 2006 -- The Vallecitos Water District (VWD) will be holding a dedication ceremony for their recently installed solar photovoltaic (PV) carport system in honor of the late Paul A. Davy, former VWD Director and the visionary for solar, at the District's headquarters. SPG Solar Inc. of San Rafael, CA, designed and installed the system. The dedication ceremony will begin at 4 pm, Thursday, Sept. 21, at VWD's headquarters in San Marcos, CA. SPG Solar, Sharp Solar, along with San Diego Regional Energy Office (SDREO) will help VWD flip the switch on the 340.9 kW AC solar system during the dedication ceremony. SDREO provided a $1.2 million grant to help fund the project. • Poseidon Resources wins IWA Grand Prize for Carlsbad desalination plant -- CARLSBAD, CA, Sept. 16 -- Poseidon Resources Corporation announced that the company's seawater desalination demonstration facility located in Carlsbad, CA, was awarded the prestigious 2006 Global Grand Prize for Applied Research from the International Water Association (IWA), a global network of water professionals in science, research, technology and practice.
