WSSC Water has released its 2022 Water Quality Report, which provides Prince George’s and Montgomery County customers with important information about the source of their drinking water, how it is filtered and purified, and detailed test results.
“WSSC Water is comprised of dedicated professionals, and I am proud that our employees are fully committed to delivering on our clean-water mission,” said WSSC Water Commission Chair Fausto R. Bayonet. “I have seen our team’s incredible work ethic first-hand, and it is no surprise our flawless track record remains intact.”
WSSC Water says that it has continued a 105-year-history of zero drinking water quality violations.
“Our mission is to protect public health and safety by supplying safe, clean and reliable water to our 1.9 million customers,” said General Manager and CEO Kishia L. Powell. “The proof behind our passion for clean water is detailed in this report. Thanks to hard-working and dedicated members of Team H2O, I am confident our 105-year track record of water quality excellence will continue.”
This year’s report includes information about WSSC Water’s proactive testing for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) compounds. PFAS, often called forever chemicals, are a large group of manmade compounds used since the 1940s in common household and commercial products.
The report details important water quality topics, including:
- Where customers’ water comes from and watershed protection;
- What’s in customers’ water and what’s not;
- The Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR) program;
- Detailed water quality data, including an explanation of the filtration process; and
- What customers can do to help protect source water.
