WHITE PLAINS, NY, Jan. 6, 2005 -- National environmental consultant Malcolm Pirnie Inc. has signed a letter of intent to acquire the California-based firm of McGuire Environmental Consultants Inc. (MEC).
Pirnie's president and CEO William P. Dee, P.E., said the three principals of Santa Monica, Calif.'s MEC -- Michael McGuire, Edward Means, and Michael MacPhee -- as well as all of the staff will join Malcolm Pirnie. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2005.
The MEC specializes in water quality, water resources management and drinking water treatment processes. This will significantly expand the technical depth of the firm's services to the drinking water industry while strengthening its western market.
"The cultures of both firms are very compatible," said Dee. "Water is a core business of both our firms, and MEC has an established reputation for innovation and technical excellence in the water industry. Since we already successfully collaborate on projects around the country, we know that MEC shares our strong cultural values of providing excellent client service, technical excellence, and creating a great workplace where our staff can develop and grow in their careers."
"We at MEC see this as a wonderful opportunity to combine our nationally recognized expertise in drinking water treatment, water resources and water quality with Malcolm Pirnie's more than 100 years of experience in the environmental consulting and engineering field," said McGuire, P.E., president and founder of MEC.
Both firms view the merger as a tremendous opportunity for clients and staff. Malcolm Pirnie is a leading national environmental consulting firm focused on water and wastewater engineering, design, construction management, water resources, environmental restoration and management consulting. MEC's specialized expertise will be brought to bear on projects nationally as an integral part of Malcolm Pirnie's Municipal/Water Environment Business Unit.
