July 28, 2015 -- According to recent news reports, some residents of the city of Gardena, Calif., have filed complaints over the past week about discolored and foul-smelling tap water.
Those families and individuals affected by the incident have claimed that their water resembles a blackish color and emits an odor similar to rotten eggs.
To raise of awareness of the situation, citizens have started recording video and capturing pictures of the tarnished resource pouring from their faucets, showers and toilets.
As noted by KNBC4, Diana Morita, a Gardena resident, was one of the first people to post a video on YouTube of the cloudy water after experiencing the problem several times before.
She described the water as "disgusting" and remarked that she refuses to drink it. Further, she has expressed concerns over how the tainted liquid is impacting the health of her family.
Other residents, including some of Morita's neighbors, who are dispensing the same cloudy water, have voiced their concerns as well.
A representative for the Golden State Water Company, which serves the Gardena area and other regions, told KNBC4 that it was an isolated incident and an investigation is ongoing.
While authorities continue to search for the cause of Gardena's water discoloring and foul smell, many city residents have chosen to drink bottled water until the issue is resolved.
