The Santa Fe store and gas station gained national attention after being featured in a popular television series.

SANTA FE, NM, OCT 26, 2017 -- The New Mexico Environment Department claims that a small community store and gas station in has failed to correct water-quality violations for more than a year, including E. Coli contamination.

The store in Bernalillo County gained attention after being featured in the television series Breaking Bad, according to the Santa Fe New Mexican.

State records show the gas station's drinking water system has been under investigation since at least 2014 for failing to monitor and remedy E.Coli and total coliform contamination. The Environment Department filed a suit in state District Court last month, one of 16 enforcement actions taken this year throughout the state.

In the case of the gas station, the state claims that the previous owner failed to submit samples in a timely manner, and did not inform customers of the contamination, resulting in a $6,000 fine.
