KRAUSZ USA Presents HYMAX Large Diameter Products at WEFTEC 2017

Oct. 10, 2017

Fewer bolts and one-piece design allow for easier and faster installation

Krausz USA announced today that it will show its HYMAX Large Diameter products (HLDs) at the WEFTEC 2017 Exhibition in Chicago, October 2-4. Designed to couple pipes that are 14 to 60 inches in diameter, all HLDs require only four bolts to tighten compared to as many as 25 bolts for other similar sized couplings. Used for pipe section replacements, the couplings are simple to install, minimizing time in the ditch and helping improve worker safety.

“The HLD’s four-bolts are top-facing meaning that installers do not have to dig under the pipe for space to tighten the bolts,” said Krausz USA Vice President of Sales Cindy Kransler. “There are only a pair of bolts to tighten on one side and then the other, and the installation is complete.”

HLDs have an exceptional range of up to 2.1 inches and can connect pipes for a variety of different materials. Compared to other couplings, which are range-dedicated and limited to a single pipe size, installers have much greater flexibility to make repairs as they uncover pipes in the ditch. The couplings also feature a one-piece, stab-on design which is simpler to install compared to other large couplings which require assembling many different parts. These kinds of installations often lead to delays and complications such as losing bolts in the mud.

HLDs are a durable, long-term repair solution that can reliably withstand harsh ground conditions. They absorb post-installation dynamic pipe deflection of up to 4° on each end, reducing the risk of damage and cracking due to ground shifts and temperature changes, and saving resources on constant future pipe repairs.

“Installing HLDs involves less time in the ditch, which translates into increased operator safety, better installations and considerable savings in man hours for the water utility,” said Kransler. “With its simple installation and high durability, crews can fix pipes quickly and leave the site knowing that the repair will last.”
