Mixing, aeration

A new concept in mixing and simultaneous aeration of all types of liquids has been introduced by ITT Flygt. Designated as FloGet, the system incorporates a Flygt submersible pump, an air suction tube, and an ejector/diffuser nozzle. One or more submersible pumps can be used with one or more ejectors. Pumps of different power and hydraulic performance can be connected to ejectors of different flow capacities to meet most system requirements. The systems are suitable for any type of tank regardless of its size, shape or depth.

Blackflow prevention

The new Conbraco® spill-resistant vacuum breaker prevents cross-connections without allowing a water spill. Designated the 4W-500 Series, the new valve is designed to prevent contamination of the potable water supply due to back-siphonage. During normal flow conditions, the units check valve remains open and the atmospheric vent seals in the bonnet assembly. As the line pressure falls to 1 psi, the spring-loaded atmospheric vent opens and the check valve closes, breaking the vacuum and preventing back-siphonage.

Turbidity sensor

In-Situ has announced the release of an integrated Turbidity Sensor for the Multi Parameter Troll 9000 water quality probe. This new sensor is an option on one of the inboard sensor ports. The sensor features an optimal optical path allowing higher sensitivity and lower power consumption, and patented ambient light rejection for higher resolution. The units also include a Multi-Sensor "Quick Cal" feature for ease of calibration. In addition, standard calibration solutions are available. A separate automated wiper is offered as an accessory to the sensor.

UV disinfection

Aquionics' closed-vessel Inline UV disinfection systems use high intensity medium pressure lamps for disinfecting primary, secondary or tertiary treated wastewater. The disinfection chambers are compact, can be installed directly into existing pipework, are designed for gravity fed or pumped applications, and provide minimal headloss. Because of the inline design and lamp technology, the systems have a smaller footprint versus an open channel configuration.

Flowmeters

Blue-White's new F-430N Variable Area Flowmeters are machined from solid cast acrylic rod stock, which is highly polished to a clear, glass-like finish. The flowmeters can be equipped with 1 1/2 in. or 2 in. F/NPT adapters. The PVC adapters directly thread into the meter body and have Viton o-ring seals. The rod guided floats are 316 stainless steel (Hastelloy C is optional). The Dual GPM/LPM direct reading scales are screen printed onto the meter body, and a white back reflector enhances meter readability. Calibrations range from 4.0 to 100 gpm or 15 to 375 lpm.

Media retaining plate

The Multiblock™ underdrain's newest option, the Laser Shield™ media retaining plate by USFilter's General Filter Products, has the lowest profile of any media retaining plate. At less than one tenth of an inch thick, the plate is able to retain media as small as 0.2 mm. The stainless steel plate's laser-cut media retaining slots provide clearly defined water passages, minimal depth of opening, and a uniform open area across the underdrain.

Centrifugal pumps

World Chemical's Series GV & GVF self-priming, seal-less and valve-less mag-drive corrosion resistant centrifugal pumps are used for continuous duty with wastewater, strong acids, bases and harsh chemicals. These pumps are constructed with GFR polypropylene or CFR ETFE thermoplastics, PTFE mouth ring, high purity carbon/ceramic/SiC/PTFE bushing and shaft materials. They are close coupled with 3/4 to 5-hp TEFC or serve-duty premium efficiency motors. Pump connections are 1, 1 1/2 and 2 inch adjustable ANSI flange. All GV/GVF Series pumps and motors are base mounted. These pumps provide suction lifts to 17 feet and a product range of 112 gpm or 100 ft TDH.
