Treatment systems

Agrimond designs water and wastewater treatment systems based on advanced oxidation processes coupled with biological and filtration processes. The systems consist of an ozone generator, a circulation pump, a contact reactor/column, and a contact tank. They can be sized to meet any flow rate and provide maximum exposure of contaminants to ozone and/or other oxidants. The mass transfer of ozone gas in water is optimized and the contact time is extended by use of a patented contact column design. Any minor portion of the undissolved ozone is transferred to the collection tank for added contact and increased efficiency.

Filter control system

The Leopold® SFC 2000™ supervisory filter control system is designed to continuously monitor and automatically control filter operation and backwash sequencing in water and wastewater treatment plants. It is an integrated control system that can operate independently as a stand-alone filter controller, function as a SCADA system, or be integrated into a new or existing plant-wide process control and information network. Its open design allows maximum compatibility with other components of the filter system and with other control systems in the plant. The system supports most common industrial device networks to allow networking of filter components such as valve actuators, flow controllers, water quality analyzers, and process transmitters.

Oil/water separators

Jay R. Smith Mfg. Co. is a manufacturer of oil/water separators and wash-water recycle systems. Its Ultracept® Oil-Water Separator separates oil, grease and other hydrocarbons from wastewater in situations where these contaminants will come into suspension. The modular unit is fabricated in stainless or mild steel with bitumastic coating. The system is totally passive with no moving parts and discharges can be under 10 ppm.

Chemical dispensers

Dosatron International has introduced three new water driven proportional dispensers suited for a variety of water treatment, wastewater treatment and odor control applications. These micro metering units offer chemical ratios as low as 1:2000 while providing exceptional repeatability. The space- and energy-saving design includes standard features such as external adjustments and an internal blending chamber. Options including PVDF body and Hastelloy metal alloy are available for water treatment applications involving acid based or chlorinated chemical injections.

DAF centrifugal pumps

EDUR DAF Pumps from Shanley Pump are now available in all-stainless steel construction. More suitable than the standard cast iron model, these stainless steel pumps are designed for lower pH wastewater treatment applications, as well as where ozone or other gases are injected into waste streams. The pumps feature a compact design and, with flows up to 250 gpm, pressures to 200 psi. They handle up to 35% entrained air and gas, and create a microbubble size smaller than 30 micron with 93-100% guaranteed solubility.

Electrodeless conductivity sensors

The GLI International Model 3700E-series Electrodeless Conductivity Sensors use a measurement technology that offers advantages over conventional contacting conductivity sensor technology. The electrodeless sensor design eliminates polarization and electrode coating problems that commonly affect conventional contacting electrode-type conductivity sensors. Chemical compatibility concerns for these non-fouling sensors are simplified because only one wetted material contacts the process media. Body materials are polypropylene, PVDF, PEEK®, or PFA Teflon®. These sensors, available in convertible or sanitary mounting styles, can measure solutions with conductivity as high as 2,000,000 microSiemens/cm and a temperature range between 0°C and 200°C.

Biosolids drying

The Dragon Dryertrademark offers municipalities a way to reduce their sludge volume by 75% while producing a beneficial, re-usable Class A product. The single-pass dryer produces dried biosolids in granule sizes suitable for use as a fertilizer. Wet solids are placed on the dryer's conveyor belts where they enter a rotating dehydration tube. The outside of this tube is heated by three natural gas fired burners, which never put the solids in direct contact with a heat source. While the biosolids pass through the drying stage, temperatures reach 212 degrees Fahrenheit. The heat kills all pathogens found in the material, resulting in Class A biosolids that exceed EPA standards for pathogen free material.

Thread locking agents

Superlock® machinery adhesives from Devcon are designed for locking and sealing of nuts, screws, studs, bolts, and other fasteners. They require no primers, exhibit excellent capillary action and gap-filling, cure rapidly, and are resistant to chemicals and corrosion. Available in a range of grades/strengths the threadlocking adhesives provide positive locking and sealing on both active and inactive surfaces in a multitude of applications, including pump and motor systems, drivelines and compressor mounting bolts.
