The probe, installed in wells not far from the pump inlet, is small enough to fit through the gap between the casing and column pipe, or through a 3/4 inch access port or sounding tube. It can be installed into operating wells without incurring any downtime.
FluidTrax is constructed with a weatherproof casing and stainless steel components. The system is not easily damaged during installation or operation. The welded, hermetically sealed probe is tested for bubble-tightness in helium and eliminates leakage-related modes of failure.
The probe provides readings at the push of a button. There are no complex hookups or wiring schematics. Moisture or temperature changes will not obscure data. Displays read out in depth-to-water or height of water column, in feet or meters.
The system can be used to monitor well and pump performance and maintain pumping rates at an optimum level. Permanent installation, zero maintenance and low cost of operation make the system suitable for a variety of applications.
In wells, the system can improve pumping and well efficiency, accurately monitor aquifer conditions, reduce the chance of over-drafting and prevent damage to pumping equipment caused by breaking suction. The system also can be used as a sensor for level control in de-watering applications, and for monitoring fluid level in tanks. Its armored steel cable resists damage and eliminates possible intrusion of water via a vent tube.
FluidTrax was invented by professionals working in the water well industry, based on their experience of drilling, servicing and formally analyzing well and pump conditions.
The level monitoring system is compatible with most SCADA systems. Both the display and probe can be used with internally or externally powered 4-20 mA loops. The probe also can be used alone to provide direct input to a PLC.
The probe has a nominal pressure range of 0-500 psig. It has a proof pressure of 150 percent of rated range, and a burst pressure of 200 percent of rated range. Operating input power is 13-32 vDC. Maximum operating temperature range is -40 to +185
The probes are available in standard and short configurations. Both are 0.625 inch in diameter. The standard probe is 10 inches long, while the short configuration is 5.5 inches.
The control panel is enclosed in an environmentally sealed, anti-corrosive polycarbonate. The digital display is a 4 1/2 inch LCD. Power can be supplied by three 9-volt batteries. The cable is available in 3/16 inch diameter standard or an optional 1/8 inch, in either galvanized plough steel or 316L stainless. The larger diameter cable has a breaking strength of 4000 lbs., compared to 1600 lbs. for the smaller. Maximum working tension is 1800 lbs. for the standard size and 800 lbs. for the 1/8 inch.
