Influent flow control valve

The Series 5400 Control Pinch Valve is designed for controlling influent to a wastewater treatment plant. The full-port opening allows raw sewage and debris such as twigs, rags and plastic bottles to easily pass without clogging. The tough elastomer sleeve eliminates dead spaces where debris can build up and hinder performance. Centerline closure maintains a smooth, venturi flow when throttled. The Series 5400 is available in sizes one in. to 72 in. Shown is the 36 in. size with Red Valve founder, Spiros G. Raftis.

Networked sewer management

PreSTAT is the first of a new generation of Predictive Status monitors for networked sewer systems. It is designed to optimize the life-cycle value of client communities' E/One Sewer investments. E/One is a manufacturer of gravity-independent pressure sewer systems for residential sewering of geotechnically challenging terrain, a technique employing progressing-cavity grinder pumps. Usually installed for half the cost of gravity sewers, these new sewers are being deployed wherever there is extremely flat, wet, rocky, or hilly site work. Based on the fact that a predictive maintenance approach delivers the lowest operation and maintenance costs, PreSTAT supplies a new order of system transparency for E/One online homeowners. The system can report problems before a potential service breach, allowing seamless service continuity to the homeowner.

The monitor also offers a fully customizable feature range, which gives system operators a choice in software from basic, local pre-alarm status indicators to fully automatic, remote central PC-monitoring telemetry packages.

Non-metallic pumps

Seepex non-metallic MDP pumps are now available. These pumps are designed for aggressive chemicals like calcium hypochlorite, ferric chloride and strong acids and bases. Pump bodies are HDPE with PVDF rotating parts and a unique PTFE seal. These pumps do not pulsate, have a 50:1 standard turndown, a 10-turn Vernier-type speed potentiometer, an H-O-A switch, accept a 4-20 mA signal and operate with a 1x115 vAC input. They do not need pulsation dampeners or pressure regulators, will not gas or vapor lock and have a low NPSHR. Pumps and repair parts are stocked.

Thrust restraint plates

Material Resources Inc., manufacturer of Standon piping products, has responded to customer requests by introducing a new line of thrust restraint plates. The Standon "Model TP" thrust plates are offered as a readily available, precision cut set of flange retention plates for use in the water and wastewater industry where retention of coupled spooling or expansion joints is required. Laser programmed cutting of the minimum 1 in. thick steel plates insures accurate hole alignment for no hassle installation. The thrust plates are available as complete kits, including the extra long flange hardware required. They are available in flange sizes from 3 in. through 48 in., in both CL125 and CL250 drilling patterns, and in mild or stainless steel.

Subsurface water storage

Invisible Structures has introduced Rainstore3, a new class of subsurface water storage created to fill a storage niche between costly, highly efficient structural tanks and reservoirs and less efficient, less expensive buried pipe and arch systems. Engineers and specifiers who have problems with retention ponds, arched chambers or pipe systems that cannot meet site restrictions, will benefit from this new structure of thin-walled cylindrical columns of injection molded resins made from recycled high impact polypropylene (HIPP), or high density polyethylene (HDPE) plastics. Rainstore3 can be as shallow as 0.1 meter (4 in.) or as deep as 2.5 meters (98 in.). Length and width in 1 meter (40 in.) increments allow for modular design flexibility.

Jet aeration system

The USFilter David Products EMU Rotox Self Aspirating Jet Aeration System, for use in CSO installations, consists of: an EMU Submersible Pump, heavy-duty nozzle and Venturi piping, and custom-engineered basin layout configurations for self-cleaning action. The pump and discharge nozzles are located in the middle of the specially sloped basin to ensure self-cleaning action as the discharge flow from the pump returns down the slope. The high discharge velocity of the flow extends to the end of the basin where the floor to wall radius elevates the flow and divides it in half for the return trip to the sump under the pump. The return flow has enough velocity to "wash" the floor of the basin down into the sump.

Dewatering device

The Phase Separator from Spectrum Environmental is a patented dewatering device. The unit's design minimizes treatment and handling of material before and after dewatering. Solids are retained in the unit and are ready to be transported. Standard units are available in 25 cu. yd.; vacuum roll-offs, 20-30 cu. yd.; roll-off containers, 2-4 cu. yd. self-dumping hoppers; and 6-10 cu. yd. lugger boxes.
