McLaughlin Manufacturings McL-30/36B and McL-36/42B auger boring machines, the largest boring machines in the companys line, can be used to install utility lines up to 42 inches in diameter.

The McL-30/36B case bores from 10 inches to 36 inches in diameter and can be increased to 36 inch capacity by replacing the master pusher with a 36 inch casing ring. A 43.5 hp air-cooled diesel engine provides the power to deliver 20,767 foot pounds of auger torque in first gear, while dual hydraulic rams deliver a forward thrust of 230,000 lbs.

Equipped with a 65 hp turbo-charged, air-cooled diesel engine, the McL-36/42B case bores from 12 inches to 42 inches in diameter. It develops 38,221 foot pounds of auger torque in first gear, and triple hydraulic rams product a forward thrust of 400,000 pounds.

Both auger boring systems include a 4-speed transmission with reverse, a patented Operator Presence Control hydraulic clutch that improves operational safety and reduces drive train wear, dual planetary reduction, and a pistol-grip lever that controls both auger rotation and forward thrust. A hydraulic dog plate, operated from the control console, and a foot-operated track brake are standard on both units. In addition, both augers come equipped with a side-mounted operator platform, key-operated electric start, hydraulic pressure gauge and hour meter.

Optional safety features on both units includes a chuck extension that enables auger coupling outside the casing pusher, a protective door on the spoil ejection chute and a guarded control console with an emergency shut-off switch.
