KHASAB, Oman - The 16,000 m3/day desalination plant in Khasab, Oman has generated sufficient international interest with a total of 13 Statement of Qualifications (SoQs) received.
Oman Power and Water Procurement Co (OPWP) has listed six companies: Veolia Middle-East; Utico; Tedagua; Osmoflo; GS Inima and Al Fanar Energy.
A further seven consortiums also made the list of applicants, including: Abengoa, ACWA Emirates, House of Trading and Services, Metito, Romman Premium Enterprise, SETE Energy and Seven Seas.
Opened in October last year, the call for qualifications was closed in December.
Oman is aiming to increase its overall desalinated water capacity under contract to OPWP to 1.3 million m3/day by 2020.
This is part of a seven year statementand a wider plan to roll out five further desalination plants across the country.
