Maynard, Mass., August 21, 2002 -- Flow Metrix Inc. recently introduced a new remote leak survey system, designed specifically with the rural water circuit rider program in mind.
Using the DigiCorr, a true digital leak noise correlator, PC software and up to 100 of its newest UniLog digital sound loggers, RLS provides the Rural Water Association the ability of increasing the support to their members via an improved leak surveying methodology, and on a larger scale than has ever been possible. The RLS software is designed to be easily added to existing laptop PCs.
According to Bud Reed of Flow Metrix, "The only disadvantage to the existing RWA field support programs is that there just aren't enough Circuit Riders. RLS makes it possible for an association to provide leak detection surveys to many more members, in the same amount of time it now takes to support one."
"With RLS, the Association can ship any number of UNILOGs to several utilities, with instructions for deployment in the areas of concern. Later, the Circuit Rider can call the member utilities, instruct them to check the leak indicator of the UNILOG for indication of a leak, mark the area on a map and pinpoint the precise leak locations during a later visit. The UNILOGs can be re-deployed to another area at any time, or shipped to another member for a similar deployment."
"Our main focus during the design of RLS was to develop a system that was not only state-of-the-art and affordable, but also easily adaptable to any municipal or rural water leak detection scenario the Circuit Rider might encounter. RLS can be deployed for short-term, long-term or permanent leak detection for any number of utilities simultaneously, depending on the number of available UniLogs."
"The only training a utility requires is the care and use of a flashlight, which is used to deploy, move or activate the red, yellow or green leak indicator status of a UniLog."
