PITTSBURGH, Penn., Sept. 5, 2002 -- Emerson Process Management announced that its Westinghouse Process Control business will now be known as Emerson Process Management Power & Water Solutions.

The new name reflects the industry solutions focus of the business and reinforces the strength the Emerson relationship offers customers in the power, water and wastewater businesses. It represents continued growth through the full range of Emerson's automation services and technologies. It offers the efficient "complete solutions - one source" approach to improved business performance that customers achieve by partnering with Emerson.

"The change to Power & Water Solutions is reflective of who we are - we offer expertise and products to the power generation, water and wastewater treatment industries," said Ann Pauley, president of Emerson Process Management Power & Water Solutions.

"We became part of Emerson in 1997, and we are proud to be an integral part of Emerson Process Management. As such, we have been able to provide our customers a much wider offering of services and technologies to help them operate their plants safely, reliably and more efficiently. Our new name defines who we are today, while the equity of our Westinghouse history provides a strong foundation."

Pauley said a brand transition to Emerson Process Management Power & Water Solutions is currently underway. All existing product offerings will remain available and will be supported. Emerson will continue to grow and enhance the groundbreaking Ovation( Information & Control System and SmartProcess( Optimization Software that are ideal for solving the complex issues facing power and water facilities.

Additionally, it will continue to support legacy WDPF systems. Customer coverage and service will continue to be a primary emphasis of the company, unaffected by the name change.

"In response to the needs of power and water facilities, we are continuing to shift from our traditional role as a control systems supplier to that of a process operations consultant," Pauley said.

"As Emerson Process Management Power & Water Solutions, we are combining our utility industry experience and technology with the best-in-class offerings of our sister Emerson divisions. An example is the broadening of our Asset Optimization program by integrating complementary Emerson offerings that improve and sustain performance of process and mechanical equipment, electrical systems and field instrumentation. This capability enables us to offer complete consultative solutions that directly put our expertise to work for our customers.

"This Emerson connection also includes the expansion of our Ovation System to incorporate the proven, leading edge technologies of the Emerson PlantWeb digital plant architecture," said Pauley.

"Industry leading Emerson offerings like AMS predictive maintenance software have been added, and field device brands like Fisher(r), Rosemount(r), and Micro Motion(r) deliver increased power to the Ovation System. By integrating the power and water industry's broadest array of expertise and technologies, Emerson Process Management Power & Water Solutions has repeatedly increased plant availability, reduced maintenance costs, and increased productivity and performance to help customers deliver the full potential of their assets and facilities."
