CORVALLIS, Ore., June 10, 2002 -- A new family of access control products is designed to convert existing mechanical locks into full-functioning access control systems.
Videx's CyberLock® permits access for authorized users at specific times on pre-selected days, and provides a comprehensive audit report of all entries.
CyberLock can be used by water districts concerned about the safety and security of their reservoirs and facilities.
Since there are no batteries in these cylinders and no wires to install, CyberLock can go virtually anywhere ¾ from padlocks securing gated areas, water reservoirs, stored chemicals, or expensive equipment at remote sites to cabinet doors containing network servers and critical data processing equipment to doorways throughout entire water district facilities.
The CyberLock system consists of the pick-proof CyberLock cylinder, and the CyberKey® that cannot be duplicated. The CyberLock cylinder is designed to the exact dimensional standards of mechanical cylinders, making conversion easy in the field.
Each cylinder can be installed, usually in less than 10 minutes, in knob and lever set locks in doors; as well as locks in cabinets, and in padlocks. Since the CyberLock cylinder contains no battery, it is ideal for indoor and outdoor applications, even in the harshest environments.
The access privileges and battery power are located in the CyberKey. Each time a CyberKey opens a CyberLock, a record of the user ID, date, and time is stored in both the key and the cylinder, creating a lock history and a key history. The CyberKey can be programmed to allow users to open the locks on specific days, and only during specified times on those days. In addition, the CyberKey can be set with a date to begin operation, as well as an expiration date.
