Providence, RI, June 13, 2002 -- Kaldnes North America has announced it has been chosen to supply Leprino Foods in Lemoore, Calif., with the Kaldnes Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) Process to pre-treat its industrial wastewater.
Under the terms of the contract, Kaldnes will supply the MBBR, including biofilm carrier elements, in-basin stainless steel aeration system as well as the stainless steel sieve assemblies.
The flow scheme consists of multiple equalization basins for pH and organic load control followed by two above ground circular tanks operating in parallel, which incorporate the Kaldnes technology used to pre-treat the wastewater. The MBBR process is a stand-alone system without a need for backwashing, return sludge or recycling of wastewater.
The technology has a small footprint, requires little maintenance and is very cost-effective in pounds of BOD treated.
The MBBR is a fixed film process that utilizes suspended plastic media to house millions of microorganisms, which decompose organic matter in wastewater thus removing COD and BOD.
The process has proven successful in the food processing, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, textile and manufacturing industries as well as municipal applications.
Kaldnes is an international provider of biological treatment systems. It offers over 12 years of experience in the biological wastewater treatment industry.
