PALO ALTO, Calif., April 3, 2002 -- TIBCO Software Inc. Wednesday announced that the City of Detroit has selected Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) solutions from TIBCO to automate and manage processes for its Water and Sewerage Department (WSD).
The WSD is the single largest waste water treatment facility in the world. TIBCO ActiveEnterprise™ and TIBCO ActivePortal™ solutions were selected to create a scalable platform and Web portal interface for the WSD, integrating more than 138 disparate applications and systems. TIBCO's solution connects the WSD's intranet to a Web portal to streamline common processes such as maintenance management, internal operational reporting and capital improvements programs.
Prior to the TIBCO implementation, the WSD faced challenges directing the appropriate information to the appropriate people in a timely and effective manner. The WSD was saddled with incongruent enterprise applications and systems, an unwieldy intranet and an outdated reliance on manual processes of assessment and reporting.
They sought a comprehensive solution for enterprise- wide deployment that would update and improve their business processes and assist them in the migration from manual to electronic processing.
After conducting an extensive evaluation of multiple products on the market, the City of Detroit selected integration solutions from TIBCO to improve the workflow of reporting processes that relied on human intervention and to provide sophisticated monitoring of distributed applications and systems throughout the enterprise in a centralized, real-time view.
