Washington, D.C., Feb. 12, 2002 -- The Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies (AMSA) and the Water and Wastewater Equipment Manufacturers Association (WWEMA) joined efforts to publish a guide on procurement methods for use by public agencies to obtain maximum value in their purchasing decisions.
"Optimizing Public Agency Purchasing Power" examines a wide array of procurement methods available to public water and wastewater agencies and compares each based on a set of values.
"Publicly run utilities need to discover and learn about proven and effective approaches to procurement that compress the business cycle, preserve and enhance competition, and promote quality results," said Mike Sweeney of the Louisville and Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewerage District, a participant in the AMSA-WWEMA procurement dialogue. "Focusing on value rather than price alone will result in improved equipment and service quality and reduced equipment life-cycle costs," he said.
Copies of this document are available free of charge to utility personnel and at a nominal fee to other industry representatives. Order forms are available through WWEMA's website, www.wwema.org.
Since 1908 WWEMA has informed, educated and provided leadership on the issues that shape the future of the water and wastewater industry.
