Evoqua’s technology selected for wastewater treatment in St. Clairsville, Ohio

Aug. 12, 2016
Evoqua’s Municipal Products and Services division will supply 10 new Envirex Series 400 RBC units arranged in two parallel flow trains.

PITTSBURGH, AUGUST 11, 2016 --Evoqua Water Technologies’ Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC) technology has been selected to upgrade the St. Clairsville, Ohio wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). Evoqua worked closely with its sales partner BissNuss Inc., on the upgrade project.

The St. Clairsville WWTP was looking to replace their existing rotating biological contactors with equipment that would provide equivalent treatment capacity for biological oxygen demand (BOD) to help to break down organic material, and suspended solids removal. The Envirex™ Series 400 RBC was selected as a cost-effective solution for retrofitting the existing tank structures, and based on its history of dependability.

Evoqua’s Municipal Products and Services division will supply ten (10) new Envirex Series 400 RBC units arranged in two (2) parallel flow trains with five (5) RBCs installed in each train for optimal performance. The Envirex Series 400 RBC system features a heavy duty shaft designed for superior fatigue resistance, flexible treatment with three media densities, a hot-dipped galvanized corrosion resistant media support system, and instrumentation to measure the equipment and biomass loads to ensure long life.

RBCs are an efficient fixed-film wastewater technology for secondary and/or advanced biological treatment. Benefits include stable process results with minimal maintenance, small footprint with low headloss, and low energy consumption.

Evoqua has more than 40 years of experience with RBC technologies through its Envirex™ brand family of products. For more information, visit www.evoqua.com/envirex.
