BROKEN ARROW, OK, Feb. 10, 2016 — Raven Lining Systems has earned the USDA Certified Biobased Product Label for its AquataFlex® 505 and 506 products. The USDA Certified Biobased Product Label verifies that the product or product familys amount of renewable biobased ingredients meets or exceeds levels set by USDA. Biobased products are finished or intermediate materials composed in whole or in significant part of agricultural, forestry, or marine ingredients.
The AquataFlex® 505 and AquataFlex® 506 are designed to provide the maximum versatility for performance and application. Both products are USDA bio-based certified hybrid novolac epoxy urethane coatings, 100% solids, with zero V.O.C.’s, and potable water is NSF/ANSI 61 certified as well. Each is designed for use in applications that require the increased chemical resistance of an epoxy and the cure speed and flexibility of a polyurethane. Both products deliver strong adhesion properties to properly prepared concrete, steel, aluminum, wood, composites and many other substrates.
“Raven believes the USDA's certification is a necessary stamp of approval to assist in assuring the public of Raven’s truly eco-conscious products and high standards “, says Tripp Ishmael, VP Product Development.
All biobased amount claims are verified by independent labs and monitored by the USDA. Consumers may feel secure in the accuracy of the biobased amount and be empowered in making better informed purchasing decisions.
"We are proud that Raven Lining Systems has earned the USDA Certified Biobased Product Label," said Ron Buckhalt, USDA BioPreferred Program Manager. "Biobased products add value to renewable agriculture commodities, create jobs in rural communities and help our nation decrease its reliance on foreign-sourced and non-renewable petroleum."
The goal of the BioPreferred® program is to increase the purchase and use of biobased products. The increased development, purchase and use of biobased products reduces our nation’s reliance on petroleum, increase the use of renewable agricultural resources and contributes to reducing adverse environmental and health impacts.
“Raven is excited and honored to be one of the few companies in the coatings and linings industry to be awarded this certification. Raven’s goal is to continue developing innovative, eco-friendly products from renewable resources that align with the USDA’s standards”, states Rob Pawlak, President.
The label is estimated to be on certified products and available for consumers beginning February 1, 2016.
