WEDECO to officially open factory and North American headquarters in Charlotte, N.C.

Oct.17, 2003 - WEDECO announced that plans are on schedule for the grand opening celebration and dedication of its new factory and headquarters here in late October.

The company expects more that 300 guests to join it in celebrating the opening, including Charlotte Mayor Patrick McCrory and more than 70 WEDECO business and sales managers from around the globe.

In addition to Mayor McCrory the opening ceremonies will include dedication speeches by Dr. Andreas Kolch, Director of R&D; Werner Klink, President, WEDECO AG Water Technologies; and John Marrino, President, WEDECO UV Technologies and WEDECO Ozone Technologies, WEDECO's two North American companies. All are members of the WEDECO Management Board of Directors.

A formal ribbon cutting ceremony and tours of the UV and Ozone facilities will follow.

The new headquarters and manufacturing company in Charlotte will support the company's rapid growth in North America. The facility consists of 100,000 square feet on almost 14 acres in southwest Charlotte, within minutes of Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.

The facility will include modern assembly operations for ultraviolet water and wastewater disinfection systems, ozone systems, complete product development and testing facilities, and applications support facilities.

More than 160 employees will occupy the new building, including North American sales, engineering, administration, customer service, manufacturing, research and development personnel.

WEDECO AG, headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany is the world's largest manufacturer of chemical-free water disinfection and oxidation systems using ultraviolet light and ozone. More than 200,000 WEDECO systems installed worldwide replace more than 160,000 tons of chlorine annually, making an important contribution toward protection of the public health and global environment.
