Sacramento, Calif., April 19, 2001 — Hansen Information Technologies announced today that the City of Chandler, Arizona has selected the company's Utility Billing and eCitizen Relationship Management (eCRM) solutions.
Chandler will be using the new system to manage billing and collections for all water, sewer, and refuse collection services, and manage the call center operations of the City's Utility Services Department. In addition to software licensing, the contract includes project management, installation, data conversion, system interface development, and end-user training.
The City of Chandler currently bills to over 56,000 accounts in 20 monthly billing cycles for the services it provides. The integrated eCRM solution will also provide Chandler with a single system to handle an average of over 1,500 weekly utility related calls on items such as connects, disconnects, service changes, and missed garbage pick-ups. Chandler will also be issuing and assigning work orders from the new system to support the Department's field operations.
"We selected Hansen because no other vendor offered a system that was as flexible and could be implemented without any customization," stated Laurie Stevens, Utility Services Manager for Chandler. "We also talked with a number of Hansen's customers and every reference came back very favorable. That really helped us confirm that we were making the right decision."
The new system will reside on an Oracle database on a Unix platform and is replacing a 14-year-old system that was developed in-house. The system will be implemented in two primary phases and began with an initial fit analysis that was used to identify current business processes, training needs, data sources, and interface requirements including an interface to the existing Oracle financial applications. The results of the analysis were used to determine the rest of the project plan and the entire implementation is expected to be complete by January of next year. Future considerations for Chandler include Internet integration for online bill payments, account inquiry, and problem reporting using Hansen's DynamicPORTAL technology, as well as an interactive voice response (IVR) system and the deployment of field computers or PDAs to support field operations.
