Wastewater energy calculator launched

DUBLIN, Ireland, July 26, 2011 -- An online interactive calculator has been launched that will help work out how much energy can be recovered in a certain quantity of wastewater using a sludge destruction technology.

Irish firm SCFI said that the system works by users inputting three basic figures, including annual sludge production, dry solids and ash percentages.

The energy calculator provides a calculation for sludge generators on the energy they are currently losing in their disposal process and how much thermal energy can be converted into electricity (or steam/hot water) when using the company's AquaCritox technology.

This Super Critical Water Oxidation process can be used for the treatment of sewage, drinking water and industrial organic aqueous waste streams.
