Elmhurst, IL., Feb 26, 2016 -- Val-Matic Valve & Manufacturing Corp. announced that Ted J. Makowan, President and CEO, will be retiring from Val-Matic on April 6, 2016 but will continue to serve on the Val-Matic Board of Directors. Mr. Makowan founded the Company with Andy Nuter in Chicago in 1966 and will be retiring on the 50th anniversary of the Company’s beginning. Chairman of the Board, Patricia Nuter said, “Andy and Ted’s hard work and leadership have made Val-Matic one of the best-run companies in the industry with two manufacturing facilities and over 150 employees. Ted’s dedication to Val-Matic will be sorely missed.”
During his tenure as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and eventually President and CEO, Mr. Makowan was instrumental in growing the Company and championing the launch of fourteen new product lines and was awarded two valve patents. He built a robust sales network and marketing organization from the ground up and always incorporated the latest technologies for communication and business operation. He led sourcing efforts in Asia thirty years ago resulting in one of the first global supply chains in the industry.
